Queen Nanny Stickers

It’s told that Nanny was a West African who arrived in Jamaica as a non-slave. She was the leader of a group of former African slaves called the Windward Maroons. The military leader among them, she was suspected to possess abilities of the supernatural kind. Kind of like Captain America, but without the shield – or maybe, we don’t know.

Anyway, whether it was sticks, shields or spells, her efforts along with the other Maroons afforded their defence against British colonisers in Jamaica, way back in the 18th century. They did this without Wikipedia, the IMF or the JPS.

Maybe she did have supernatural powers 🤷‍♂️
